It is a common knowledge that Russia mainly bases on resources. The world has already seen that Russia usually takes advantage of its natural resources for the purposes of political issues as well.
However, this affluence sometimes leads to lowering the guard what becomes a problem. In other areas Russia develops taking shortcuts. After, contrary to all expectations, the demand for energy resources decreased due to American shale gas, Russia got into trouble as well as other countries that base on resources. Russia’s main asset has become a dangerous addiction.

The value of Russian export is directly related to the crude rate. As presented on the chart bellow, this relation continued before the introduction of sanctions after the annexation of the Crimea (February, 2014) as well as now. What is interesting is a clear, seasonal decrease of Russian export in January in the following years despite of economic situation at the crude market.
